C'è stato un flare solare
eccezionale (classe X18) oggi today
20.10.2003 alle 11 UTC. Ed e' stato il
maggiore flare solare diretto verso la
terra di questo ciclo ad il secondo, per
intensita', di questo ciclo.
Il flusso solare e' stato estremamente
alto negli ultimi giorni. Era 257 questa
mattina presto. Questo e' molto simile al
picco del ciclo. Ieri era circa 245 (il
rapportoo di uno SFI=298 di ieri era
errato).
Ieri qui c'e' stata una apertura sui 50
MHz da VK4 con ES, OZ, ON, PA, G, EA.
Questo era inatteso per questa fase del
ciclo solare.

Piccole probabilita' di buone
condizioni DX intercontinentali F2 sui
50MHz.
Probabilita' di aurora.

Hi friends,
There was an extreme solar flare (class
X18) today 2003-10-28 at 11 UTC. It was
the biggest earth-directed solar flare of
this solar cycle, and the 2nd biggest
altogether of this cycle.
The solar flux has been extremely high the
last few days. It was 257 earlier today.
This is similar to the peak of this solar
cycle. Yesterday it was ABT 245 (the
reports of SFI=298 yesterday were
incorrect).
Yesterday there was an opening on 50MHz
from VK4 to ES, OZ, ON, PA, G, EA. This
was unexpected for this phase of the solar
cycle.
ESTIMATED
TIMETABLE:
Wednesday morning:
Small chance of great intercontinental
F2 DX on 50MHz.
Also chance of aurora.
Wednesday around lunchtime:
Impact of CME and aurora starts (It
usually takes longer for a CME to arrive,
but his one moves fast)
Thursday:
Aurora stops (or declines)
Friday and/or Saturday:
Good chance of good intercontinental
F2 DX on 50MHz
It is likely that we get some extreme
aurora (Strong visible overhead in
Stockholm and perhaps visible all the way
down to Northern Africa).
