8Q - Maldive Is. - 19.05.24
Watch out for Rolf, DO4RKR, operating as 8Q7KR from Joy Island between the 19th and 31st on 10m (SSB). QSL via homecall).
CY9C - St. Paul Is. - 19.05.24
The Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans has issued the written permit for the CY9C DXpedition to St Paul Island (26 August-5 September), and the ARRL has pre-approved the DXpedition for DXCC credit. The permit is for the small Northeast Island, as the main island is now under the jurisdiction of the Canadian Wildlife Service.
A 24-foot vehicle has been rented and reserved for early August to transport a lot of the gear to Dingwall (Nova Scotia), which will be the base for all pre-DXpedition activities. The team will use two helicopters and a boat to transport the operators and the equipment to the island.
Beginning on 26 May, a week long work session for CY9C will take place in North Carolina. Team members W0GJ, W0PR and WA4DAN will meet up and go through and inventory all of the DXpedition gear. The plan is to erect the new operating tents, test and run the seven new generators, assemble and test antennas and inventory all of the coaxial cables.
"The team is very grateful to all the clubs and individuals who have joined our efforts. Additional support is encouraged and can be made through https://t-rexsoftware.com/cy9c".
EA - Spain - 19.05.24
Depending on weather and seas conditions, a three-man team (Henry EA5EOR, Ilde EA5HEU, and Christian EA3NT) will be active as EG5MI from Penyeta del Moro (EU-151) on 25 May. They will place a wooden platform on the rocks on 24 May at about 16 UTC, and return on 25 May at about 4 UTC, hoping to be QRV as soon as possible. "We don't discard to start same Friday 24th evening with a very lightweight setup (one car battery)", Christian says, "and run for a couple of hours to try to get advantage of the greyline and give a chance to the West Coast". Most likely they will be QRV on 20, 17, 40 and 6m CW, SSB and FT8. If he gets enough subscribers to his YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/@EA3NT), Christian will try and broadcast live the landing attempt. Penyeta del Moro is a rocky islet of almost 2 metres in width and 6 metres in length; an iron lighthouse of about 5m in height was placed there in 1861. QSL via EA5GL.
